Joe Lyons(Co-Director): A sophomore double-major in Physics and Astronomy, he has worked with professor Gopal Narayanan on data reduction software for Redshift Search Reciever which will be on the LMT in Mexico. His hobbies including running, boardgames, computer games, and watching movies. Joe believes that one day our sci-fi movie dreams may someday come alive. Joe hopes to eventually answer some of great questions in Astronomy today such as what dark matter is, or what really goes on inside the depths of a black hole.
Tom MacRae (Co-Director): Tom is an undergraduate pursuing a B.S. degree in each Physics and Astronomy. It all started years ago when he saw the show The Universe on the History Channel, and the rest is history. Tom is more of a physicist than an astronomer. He is interested in the experimental side of physics as well as building things. He hopes to make a career out of the new and aspiring field of Nanotechnology, for that is where his true passion lies. He is currently doing work with Grant Wilson in the Astronomy department. Tom is working with AzTEC, the camera to the Large Millimeter Telescope. Astronomy and Astrophysics are important to him because he likes to remember how he got into all of this in the first place. It's vital to recall your roots and where you come from, or you forget who you are. Also, in order to understand the really small, you need to understand the really big! The Orchard Hill Observatory is greatful for all the help and support from countless members of the Five College Astronomy Club, especially Marie Calapa and Nikita Gubanov.
