This is an image of the rho Ophichus star forming region. The J (1.25µm ) image has been mapped to blue, the H (1.67µm ) image to green , and the K (2.2µm ) image to red.

This image is only a small portion of the entire mosaiced region. The large mosaic is 764,900 bytes, but shows the approx. 35´ × 35´ area centered on the rho Ophichus cloud core.

An x-ray image is also available of this cloud. The centers of the two images are approximately the same, but the diameter of the x-ray image is twice the size of the large infrared image. This image was made available by the HEASARC WWW image directory.
